Dong Son is Vietnam’s leading natural stone and mineral manufacturer and exporter. The company specializes in the areas of business: Mining and processing of non-metallic mineral products (marble, natural stone, feldspa, kaolin); Established in 2005, we are one of the top stone and minerals companies in Vietnam specializing in manufacturing and exporting.
KAOLIN is one of the more important industrial clay minerals. Kaolin is comprised predominantly of the mineral kaolinite, a hydrated aluminum silicate. Kaolinite, which is the dominant mineral in kaolin deposits, is a common clay mineral, but the relatively pure and commercially useable deposits are few in number. Kaolinite has physical and chemical properties which make it useful in a great number of applications. One of the most important applications of kaolin is coating and filling paper. As filler, the kaolin is mixed with the cellulose fibers in wood pulp and as a coating; the kaolin is mixed with water, adhesives, and various additives and coated onto the surface of the paper. The coating makes the paper sheet smoother, brighter, glossier, more opaque, and most importantly, improves the printability. Paper that is not coated is made up of cellulose fibers interwoven in a random and open configuration.

Our water-washed/refined kaolin is processed from chemical weathering kaolin ores originated from pegmatite rocks. The process of producing water-washed kaolin consists of ore selection, washing and separating (mica, quartz, other impurities) or removal of impurities, magnetic separation, filter pressing, drying and packing. Our washed kaolin owns basic properties:
Kaolin clay is chemically hydrated aluminium silicate and structurally unmodified. Water washed kaolin is made by slurrying the raw clay and then centrifuging or hydrocycloning it to remove impurities. Chemical bleaching is done to improve the brightness of the kaolin before it is then produced into the specific grades. Kaolin has a platy structure, hydrophilic and thus readily water dispersible.
Surface treated kaolin clay is a substrate for chemical surface treatment. The range of treatments is quite varied and application specific. Generally silicone treatments reacted on the kaolin surface to later cross-link with an intended polymer system. Due to the improved chemical bond strength achieved, improved physical & electrical properties of the final product are realized.
